COMP ACADEMY

£3

Tuesdays 6-7
Or
Saturdays 11.45 – 12.45

Comp Academy, a compulsory class for all Freestyle competitors. It’s an exhilarating hour which mixes fitness along with strengthening, and heightening skills for all dancers.

Note price reduced to £4.50 if you attend both Tuesday and Saturdays Classes!

STRENGTH & FLEXIBILITY
£3
Saturdays 12.15-1.15
Split into two halves, the first 30 mins covers building strength to enable you to perform more challenging choreography eg building strength in ankles and legs for higher box split jump. We also focus on increasing flexibility using stretches and equipment like leg weights/elastic stretchers/ropes etc so the move can be more impressive eg a wider box position / straight legs / increasing legs into a high v shape so box jump goes past box position. The second 30 minutes allows individual time so the dancers can chose a move they wish to improve themselves with the advise and attention of the teachers.

Freestyle :

Freestyle is an artistic dance style growing into one of the most popular styles in the UK right now.  The style originates from the era of John Travolta in the late 1970’s when disco was created and featured in the film ‘Saturday Night Fever’.  Freestyle has now advanced further into a popular style, which demonstrates high energy, accentuated body movements and great flexibility.  Some of the most common moves are spins, kicks and high jumps.

Please check official timetable above as we offer many freestyle classes for different age groups.

Rock n Roll:

A fun, energetic, partnered dance, which emerged in America in the 1950s and combines elements of swing, Lindy hop and the jitterbug.  Rock n Roll has developed from the days of it being only a social dance for adults, as it is now very popular amongst youngsters too.  Rock n Roll has also advanced further since the 1980’s and has become very popular in Europe.  It is different in style from the authentic rock ‘n’ roll, now the dance is characterised by very high kicks instead of steps or flicks and it is danced to modern rock or pop music in addition to older rock n roll music of the 1950’s.  The dance style is faster and more dynamic with more demanding acrobatics, which is more suited to shows and competitions.  Our general class routines focus on the basics of rock n roll in a fun way, whilst competition work stems more towards acrobatics.

Please check official timetable above as we offer many freestyle classes for different age groups.

Street Dance:

Our classes are designed to give fun-filled sessions where you learn to let go and express yourself to your favourite chart music.  Street dance is an umbrella term for many styles such as hip hop and Breakdance etc which originally progressed outside the dance studio eg school yards, night clubs and the streets.  Street dance is continuing to grow with new styles evolving all the time eg Whacking, Krump and House.  At Bodyrockerz we incorporate many styles to give a wide range of understanding and education.  Street dance continues to grow in popularity; it’s a powerful dance style which will help develop your stamina, co-ordination, and confidence.

Slow Dance / Contemporary:

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance styles.  Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.  Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of other genres.  This dance genre is often done in bare feet and has a strong focus on floor work.  Pioneers of contemporary dance include Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham. These contemporary dancers all believed that dancers should have freedom of movement, allowing their bodies to freely express their innermost feelings. Please check official timetable as we offer many freestyle classes for different age groups.
